The universal seal ring of the dispensing machine is a lip-shaped one-way sealing part used for reciprocating motion. It can be used to seal the inner wall of the hole of the hydraulic cylinder, which is called a hole seal, and can also seal the outer cylindrical surface of the piston rod, which is also called a shaft seal.

1. Pan-Seal
Its cross section is shown in the figure. Its appearance is not much different from Gu and Ku-shaped seals. However, they are different in terms of sealing pressure, working speed and temperature adaptability. Its main body belongs to the U-shaped U-shaped seal ring, which is made of fluorine synthetic resin. The spring card inside its lip is made of stainless steel or nickel-based alloy or hairspring alloy. The two lips of the U-shaped ring, especially the lip edge, play a sealing role. As shown in the figure, the lip edge in contact with the bottom of the groove is called a static seal (because there is no relative movement between them), and the lip in contact with the surface of the piston rod is a dynamic seal lip (because there is relative movement between them). The static seal lip is larger than the dynamic seal lip. Under pressure, the static seal lip is tightly attached to the bottom of the groove. Its contact area is large and the static friction force is also large, which is conducive to preventing the movement and rotation of the seal ring during sealing. The dynamic seal width is smaller, and its front angle has been optimized in design and manufacturing to reduce friction and energy consumption. Several grooves are set at the root of the U-shaped ring to release the pressure at the root, prevent the root from having a high pressure, prevent the seal ring from moving or rotating in the groove, and the chamfer at the inner diameter of the root prevents the seal ring from being squeezed and damaged.

2. Working Principle of Seals
Whether the Vanseal seal is located in the groove of the inner hole of the sleeve ring in the cylinder port or in the groove on the groove on the piston, after they are assembled into the cylinder, the main part of the Vanseal seal - the U-shaped ring, is under the action of the spring clip in its lip, and the two lips of the U-shaped ring are respectively pressed against the groove side and the sliding surface (sealed surface), so as to seal the pressureless or micro-pressure fluid in the closed cavity of the cylinder body. When the fluid pressure increases, the lip of the seal ring bears the sum of the fluid pressure and the spring force, which is the self-sealing effect introduced earlier. It is significantly different from the Y-shaped and other lip seals. The Y-shaped ring uses the interference during assembly to generate a preload, which is difficult to control. If the preload is very weak or there is no preload, it is difficult to achieve zero sealing and micro-sealing. However, due to the action of the spring clip, the Vanseal seal always has elastic force applied to the lip. Therefore, when the fluid is pressureless, the sealing lip still maintains a reliable sealing effect.
 
3. Main performance of Pan-Seal
a. Good sealing performance: It has reliable sealing from zero pressure to rated working pressure.
b. Working pressure: p=0~21MPa (working pressure of extended root type can reach 69MPa).
c. Working temperature: t=-23~351℃, t=-23~282℃, t=-79~351℃.
d. Working medium: In addition to acid and alkali, a wide range of liquid and gas fluids are compatible.
 
4. Advantages and Disadvantages of Dispensing Machine Seals
Advantages of Pan-Seal Seals:
a. Good sealing performance, especially in the state of no pressure and micro-pressure;
b. Simple structure;
c. Good chemical resistance;
d. Small friction factor, small friction force, less wear, even if wear, the spring card can automatically compensate, so the service life is long;
e. Strong anti-compression force;
f. Long shelf life.
Disadvantages of Pan-Seal Seals:
a. The spring card is complicated to manufacture, and the material cost is expensive, and the total cost is high and uneconomical;
b. The rated working pressure of medium and high pressure of hydraulic systems is mostly 31.5~40MPa, so most types of Pan-Seal Seals have a working pressure of 21MPa, and the use of hydraulic systems with rated pressures above 21MPa is limited;
c. Imported seals are too expensive and uneconomical.

 

5. Use of Pan Seal (select according to its performance and advantages and disadvantages)
1. It can be used in places where other extrusion type and lip seals cannot meet the requirements,
2. When the self-compensation seal and combined seal of the inner cavity medium can be used but are not economical, such as high temperature under 21Mpa pressure, and the medium has chemical corrosion;
3. Places with food and medical hygiene requirements; places with precise control of friction;
4. Places with high viscosity of the medium and places that require less maintenance or no maintenance or long service life.
